I was checking in on Facebook and was surprised to see an ad for a job show up on my profile page. I see many ads on Facebook – but a job ad?
It was a prime opportunity for an Environmental Health and Safety Manager for a large, Midwest food producer – a high level position within this organization.
Then I realized why this company went this route for this particular job. They could laser target the ad to the most qualified candidates!
I was most likely targeted for a few reasons:
1) My “likes and interests” include many environmental groups.
2) I have my college listed – State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry (the Nation’s leading environmental institution).
3) My age, because I list my birthday on my profile, indicates my experience level.
Facebook allows for this type of “drill down,” so your ads only appear to the audience you want to target! That’s what makes it so effective when it comes to any type of advertising campaign.
So, how do you laser target ads on Facebook? Get into the head of your ideal customer.
What are their likes and interests?
What level of education do they have?
What schools did they attend?
How old are they?
Where do they live?
Before you start advertising on Facebook, add some strategy to your campaign to laser target your ads!
